Praise Him—Still

So, how's it going? Have you taken the challenge to Praise Him—No Matter What?

Sometimes it's easy to give up. You get in a groove of praising Him one day, only to find the next day too discouraging to think straight. Although this is considered The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (TM), it can also be difficult in many ways. Colds and flu are being passed around, our schedules get jam-packed, our budget isn't stretching as far as we'd like, and each Christmas marks another year when (fill in the blank) didn't happen. It can be tough.

Whether you're waiting for a spouse, or a job, or for circumstances to get easier, these are the times when we've got to be praising God the most. If we aren't praising Him now, how much more will we neglect praise when things are going well?

Last week this blog featured clips from Facing the Giants. This week, I want to feature a song used in Fireproof, another movie put together by the same people who made Facing the Giants. Here are the lyrics:

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait
I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord
(Song by John Waller)

Whatever you're waiting for - whether it be for circumstances to improve, or a pain in your heart to subside, or simply for a warmer, brighter day - let's worship and praise Him while we're waiting.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for loving us so. Even when life feels too hard and we become impatient, we can experience joy by focusing our thoughts on You. Thank You for being the God of all comfort who comforts us in our troubles (2 Corinthians 1:3). Help us put our hope in You alone (Psalm 42:11). I commit right now to take my eyes off my life, and give my praise to You, my good (1 Chronicles 16:34), loving (1 John 4:16), and holy (1 Peter 1:15-16) God. Thank You for who You are and what You've done for me.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

You know I did a post yesterday about paying Lip Service to God, like what you are saying to Praise God no matter what. When the rubber meets the road and we are thrown a curve like I was yesterday that rocks your world it is hard. But yes I am praising Him in the middle of the typhoon right now. thanks for your awesome post.

Awesome post! And I love that song! I downloaded the soundtrack from that movie simply for that song alone! Because it occurred to me that while I am waiting for a child from God, that I can't, I WON'T take my eyes off of Him!! I will continue to praise Him, and serve Him! And while I'd love to have a child, a bigger paycheck, a larger place to live......there is not a day that goes by where I don't stop, look around me, and thank my Heavenly Father for all of the blessings He has bestowed upon me. Especially the blessings that have come from living through difficult times.

What a magnificent post, Heidi. I have had seasons in my life where I was waiting through very difficult circumstances, but God was always there. It is so important to remind one another of that and support our brothers and sisters through those dry valleys. Thank you for sharing the song, too. What a patient, loving God we serve and praise!

In my waiting, I try to allow myself to be molded by Him. Not always easy because my tendency is to jump up and try to make something happen. For me, that is the hard part...just to submit to His plan and shaping.
